DishWhere is an urban game created as my MFA thesis project. The goal of the game is to collect points by completing challenges at unique and/or historical restaurants and food establishments across New York City. Through the utilization of mobile technology and social communities a single player, ambient gaming experience is created. The game explores new game mechanics in the urban game genre, attempting to create an experience that balances the players’ quality vs quantity of interaction and engagement with the urban environment. The game also addresses questions on urban travel patterns, situated learning, and user generated content.
